The Holy Grail is the Journey, NOT the Destination

In many ways, I feel as though our searching for personal meaning and purpose is our ultimate search for happiness. The trick I’ve learned along the way is simple and yet profound: don’t focus too much on your desired goal and don’t focus too much on thinking and believing that obtaining it is the only true path to happiness. It’s not.

I’m sure you must be thinking at this point that this sounds like it goes against many of the things you’ve ever read and heard. After all, the entire personal development and even the spiritual development industry is built in a way that presents various solutions to the problems people believe that they are facing and that are holding them back from achieving what they want in life.

The Holy Grail is the Journey, NOT the Destination

Let’s pause and think about this for a bit. Our society is one that has evolved to value the end results. The “ultimate” possession. We are taught to believe that we must obtain the prize, win the lottery, get the gold etc.

Have you ever thought about why we do this? And if/when we do, what’s next? Another larger goal? Another bigger dream left to be desired?

All of these thoughts and this way of thinking blocks out the sun, so to speak. We must commit to understanding that the ultimate purpose of life is to live it. Life is about the actions we are taking, right now. Life is about the process and the unfoldment of the infinite potential and possibilities into actual reality. Life is about Being, becoming, evolving and experiencing everything to the fullest and highest degree as it happens and then using those moments to better ourselves and those around us, including our planet and everybody on it.

  • Life itself is the process in which the spiritual and divine realms of being can come to touch and influence the material planes of existence in which we are presently aware of. This all happens through us. It happens through the decisions we make about life and the decisions we make about how we will treat ourselves, others and the entire world’s population
  • .

That’s a beautiful statement. Love, beauty, intelligence, appreciation, willpower and compassion are able to, through us, become real and tangible forces that are practiced and maintained in everyday physical life. Life should be lived in accordance with these values because, “As you sow, so shall ye reap.”.

Living Life is the Entire Point

As you live your life, you are evolving. You can’t help but do this. As you evolve, you take the rest of the world and the people around you with you along for the ride. Every action you take and the way you live your life effects everybody in existence in a way that is undeniably evident yet not so easy to grasp at first glance. Every decision you make is like a new thread woven into the tapestry of human existence and this grand tapestry will exist and persist for the rest of time.

I’m not saying that you should give up on all of your goals, desires and dreams in life. What I am saying is that the universe will do it’s absolute best to test your knowledge, skills and commitment along the way. It will present you opportunities to learn great truths and secrets about life and then test your understanding of them immediately. This is the dance of evolution that everything in existence experiences as evolution on a larger scale unfolds.

Only those who have the passion to follow their hearts and do what they love will find that the universe reveals it’s secrets in a most distinctive way; every challenge is designed to imbue and impart us with wisdom, knowledge and experience. Every adversity in life is designed to yield an equivalent amount of positive potential and usefulness. We must only see these challenges for what they are, and when we do, we will understand that life exists for us to grow. We must pick and choose our challenges wisely and which ones are worth overcoming, for when you can do this consciously, the amount you can learn and grow becomes infinite.

It just so happens that the most successful people in life are the ones who follow their true heart’s desire because these tempers them and provides them with the necessary strength to ride out the perceived challenges that they face in life. These individuals understand that the overall process of their life never ends and is where all of their strength, talent and wisdom comes from. Forget about instant gratification. Anything of value in life requires time to produce. Think about home made food versus fast food. Time is required to build character, strength and skill.

    Time Waits for No One

Times wait for no one. It’s not going to slow down, it’s not going to stop. It’s going to keep on ticking on by. What will you do? What are you going to do? We only have so much time in this life.

This is a blessing because without a limited amount of time, we’d feel immortal and indeed would be. If we were indeed immortal during our brief visit to this physical world then nothing would be of importance since we have all of the time in the world to do what we want. While the soul may have this luxury, we do not have it here and now while in our physical and elemental bodies. We are in existence to bring the forces of love from the heavens into the physical world in order to create a literal “heaven on Earth”. It can and will be done with enough time.

Nothing ever dies. There is only change. Matter is recycled throughout various levels of being but it is never destroyed and it never “dies” itself. Matter, however, is capable of evolution; this evolution is the secret of life and it is wise to understand.

A worm can eat the corpse, a bird can eat the worm, a human can eat the bird and the worm can eat the human’s corpse. In due time, the world and it’s dirt eats all things, both created and evolved.
