I believe that in life we are only capable of reacting in 3 main ways to negative situations, circumstances and conditions. Each of our reactions will come to define us as individuals and largely determine how we act in life and will also help to determine what type of results we are able to achieve. It’s also no secret that our lives will look a lot like the main reaction group that we tend to align with. Let’s take a look at what they are in a bit.
First, I just want to say that negative experiences in all of their forms and manifestations are the single most important element and tool you will ever work with in life. Why? Because by experiencing negativity we are granted the ability to exercise our most sacred and precious gift: Free Will. Through our own Free Will we are able to decide and choose for ourselves a life in accordance with who believe we are and what we stand for.
>Negativity is the most precious gift of all because our reaction to it shapes and defines us as individuals and as people. The way in which we choose to react to negative circumstances will little by little come to shape our personalities, our thinking and actions as well as the results we are able to generate in the world. I can’t say this enough – negativity allows us the opportunity to create our lives based on what we either believe we are or are not. I believe that there are 3 main ways in which we can react to negativity that come to shape our lives and our destinies.
3 Ways We React To Negativity That Define Us
1). This group by and large represents individuals who tend to stay “neutral”, but when I say “neutral”, I really mean that these individuals are usually the people who let things happen to them and then do nothing to try and change anything. I find that these individuals are the first ones to complain about how bad something is and are also the first ones to complain about how everybody else is doing things wrong, which in turn, comes to effect their lives and make them miserable. I also believe that these are the people who just want to sit back and wait for everybody else to fix everything for them, and when nothing gets fixed to their satisfaction, then they continue to complain about the incompetence of others.
The bottom line for this group is this: You have more power and are capable of creating the change you wish to see in the world. In fact, just like Ghandi had said, “We must become the change we wish to see in the world”.
Do you see the problem with the thinking in this group? The problem is that the emphasis is always on others. They immediately release their power to other individuals thinking that they can and should fix everything. This transfer of one’s Willpower to another or group of other people robs you of your ability to change or create anything in your own lives. The individuals in this group must be extremely cautious of looking for “secrets” and “shortcuts”. I can tell you that the secret is in the work and dedication that you bring to the table and that you do. There really is no substitute for hard work, dedication and practice. What often seems like luck to us on the outside and looking in is really the result of a ton of hard work, dedication, action and mind set in reality.
The main message for this group is to learn to find the power within. Everything starts from the foundation of your beliefs and with the basic way you believe that the world works. Without changing these beliefs then the outcome of one’s life following this particular reaction to negativity is, like all others choices, one that will keep delivering the same results and expectations. These individuals are prone to feeling let down by others because the way in which they live their lives sets them up to be controlled by the thoughts and actions of another.
With practice, dedication, commitment and heart these individuals can turn the negativity into positivity and be armed with a great sense of “both sides of the coin”; they understand what it feels like to both be dis-empowered and empowered as a result of their own thinking and acting and so they become great catalysts for change in the world since they are capable of understanding and aligning with the way other people usually think about themselves and the world.
2). This group represents people who are able to rise above negative circumstances, conditions and events because they believe in themselves so much that they known their own value and self-worth; these individuals would appear to be beyond negativity, because indeed, they are quite literally because of the way they think and act. The mindset that is found in this group of people is that they are more then and better then their circumstances so they will continually fight until they achieve what they want. These people don’t settle for what happens to them and instead they learn that in life they are the ones who are capable of consciously creating their own results. The understanding of cause and effect in this group is strong and they understand that if they are unhappy with the results they are generating then they are able to change them by dedicating themselves to their purpose with work and correct thinking. Nobody in this group is scared to work hard and they usually don’t look for shortcuts. They understand that they are the catalysts that allow them to go from Point A to Point B.
The people found in this group often times either conscious or subconscious are creating their lives by understanding what they are not. That is to say that these people have probably experiencing a lot of negativity in their lives and are choosing to create lives in which they seek to stop the flow of negative circumstances and experiences both for themselves and for other people. I like to say that a transmutation is usually occurring here that transforms negative energy into positive energy; this flow happens because the individual chooses to become a conductor of positive energy rather than allowing negative energy to flow through them.
The most important message for this group to remember is that of the Heart. Is what you are doing a path your Heart and/or Love would follow? If so, keep marching on. If not, stop it. I guarantee you that as your Heart opens more and more and your capability for extending Love increases, you will come to loathe and disdain work that doesn’t have a Heart.
3). Perhaps the best way to sum up this group is the age old saying, “If you can’t beat’em, join’em!”. These individuals are usually so highly affected by negativity that they believe the only way to cope with the world and other people is by becoming negative themselves. Another good expression that sums this group up perfectly is, “An eye for an eye”. A lot of times I see really great people fall under this spell, and after years of living it out consciously, they lose their Hearts and it becomes a permanent way of living and being for them. I always believe that we are grand conductors of energy and once you subscribe to believing that life works this way, then the only negativity that will pass through and come to and through you is that of a negative nature. This means that most of the experiences you will end up receiving in life is of a negative nature. Sometimes people become this way as a defense mechanic, or perhaps it is because they convinced themsleves that the world is only about the survival of the fittest and so they should become as ruthless as possible to get to the top of it. But at what cost would you want to do this for? Would you be willing to lose yourself and your Heart/Soul in the process? To whom does this benefit? You, or somebody pulling your strings?
It’s like setting your radio to the station 104.7 and then complaining that the only type of music and the only station that you can hear is 104.7. But guess what? That’s just what the radio is tuned in to. The human mind/body/soul complex works the exact same way. What are you tuned in to? Do you like it? If not, just change the station! You can definitely do that
The message to take away from this group is for them to realize the Golden Rule: You get what you give and you are that which you are. Literally. Everything that we choose is what shapes us because our own mind/body/soul energy complexes, just like a radio, eventually “tune in” to the stations and thoughts that we most think about. The universe is just BURSTING at it’s seems to express itself in this physical world of ours and if you’re tuned into a negative station then you will become the universe’s preferred method of channeling necessary negative experiences into the world.
It’s just that simple!
Your Reaction to Negativity Is Who You Are – No Exceptions
The last point I made is specifically important. Just remember that we are like radio towers tuned to specific frequencies and that the universe is broadcasting through us. By believing and expecting negative circumstances and conditions to occur in the world, then they must receive them and create that at the same time. The universe can’t ignore these requests for creation just because they are “bad” and so the universe must find methods of creating these experiences in the world. Those who are tuned into the “negative stations” become great channels and conducts for this energy which turns into very real experience.
If you want to go a little bit deeper than think about why we have chosen to live our lives in a world in which negative experiences seem to outweigh the positive ones. It would seem like to me that we are here in order to find ourselves and choose the positive or the negative in order to determine who we really are and what we stand up for and believe in.

Generally our reactions to negative people have a lot of consequences. So I try to avoid them in the first place, if not possible I follow two simple tips, be understanding and be loving, if things boil over, I move away. That’s a really good post you’ve written, Like you’ve said “The universe can’t ignore these requests for creation just because they are “bad” and so the universe must find methods of creating these experiences in the world.” Here’s my post on it. Cheers good wrodk!
Hey Aditya!
Thanks for your great feedback – and I totally agree with you; being understanding and loving is the key behind approaching people and all sorts of relationships in general. Being able to move away from a situation that doesn’t serve or empower you is the healthy and right thing to do!
And like they say – the best cure is often prevention
