How to Tell If Something If Meant To Be – The Resistance Test

I often get a lot of people who ask me for a fast, simple and effective way, method or “test” that will allow them to determine as quickly as possible if something is “meant to be” or not. Rather than get all complicated, I am going to present an extremely easy method that I’ve just always called the Resistance Test for you to read and consider.

How to Tell If Something If Meant To Be – The Resistance Test

While it’s no secret that I do have a lot of problems with the Law of Attraction, I will of course admit that yes, the universe does indeed work off of the concept of attraction since it will attract things (through vibrational harmony) that are similar while simultaneously repelling things that aren’t of the same frequency. I also advocate that the universe is a consciousness in and of itself, and with practice, we can have a conversation with the universe through the observation of everyday events, things, people, our own thoughts and things like synchronicities etc. Carlos Castaneda would referred to this as the art of “Seeing” within his series of books.

In my own life, I use the simple and highly effective Resistance Test to help me better understand what things are worth pursuing and what things aren’t. The test works like this and has two parts to it:

Resistance Test – Part 1 – Does No Mean No?

If I desire something, I will attempt to pursue it. If at first I am meant with a form of resistance that blocks me from obtaining it, I will back away and try a second time. If after that second time, I still am meant with a form of resistance that blocks me, I will back off and try for a third time. If at the end of my third attempt, I find myself not able to penetrate the resistance holding me back, I generally will understand that I am just not vibrationally compatible with what I am pursuing and desiring at that moment. Of course, there are exceptions and deep urges that can over ride this, but let’s learn about the rest of this method ;) This leads us into the second part of this.

Resistance Test – Part 2 – What Next?

Over the years as I’ve attempted to fulfill and achieve the things I have desired I have noticed a definite pattern that has made my own personal development and growth a lot simpler, easier and faster. Whenever I am pursuing something that I am just not in harmony with, and manage to achieve baby steps and progress with, I always look at the resistance involved. If I manage to overcome my first obstacle, but each and every step after that seems to become harder and harder while I become more and more frustrated and “turned off” with it, then I am typically inclined to immediately back off of trying to achieve it. Why? Simply because I have learned over the years that sometimes the reason that I am not able to achieve certain things is because I really don’t want them to begin with. If every step seems to get harder and harder, than my heart isn’t supporting me through my process of achieving my desired goals and outcomes. It’s simple to prove this to myself because if I was truly 100% committed and in alignment with something, it should only feel natural, easy and the resistance doesn’t feel like something that will hold me down.

When you are attempting to make a desire real and happen for you, it should feel as though all of the resistance you face are challenges that you won’t ever back down from; all of the challenges in the world should feel like something that you can overcome and you should have results and measurable success for proving this to yourself with as well as being able to back yourself up with. I’m not saying that life is entirely a picnic, but what I am saying is that if your heart is in alignment with what you are desiring then you will find the inner-strength and willpower that is necessary to help you work through your resistance while remaining persistent. Some people describe this as a sort of flow that makes them feel like they are floating down stream instead of fighting to swim upstream.

Many people spend years and years in the toughest of life situations and they are able to break through while others aren’t. If you just listen and study the resistance patterns you are receiving in life, then you should come out of it with a better understanding and awareness about where you are and where you are trying to go. I find that a lot of people hold on to old dreams and goals (such as becoming a wrestler, actor, singer etc) when in their current and present life situations it clearly just isn’t the best or smartest choice for them. This can create a lot of internal conflict and feelings of being lost or having wasted a lot of time in life – all things that don’t serve is in a positive way in the long run, especially when the past is the past and the present is here, right now, waiting for us to fully step into it.

The Proof Is In the Pudding

A huge part of the Resistance Test is your progress. Your measurable results are one of the greatest assets you have in understanding yourself and the kind of resistance you are receiving and how you are dealing with it. If you are pushing towards a desired goal and yet you have no results to show for it, then you are most likely facing resistance that you can’t get past, which in turn would suggest that your heart isn’t behind you and you really, on a deep level, don’t fully want what you think you do.

A huge part of life is being able to let go of the things that don’t serve us and this is what the ultimate part of the Resistance Test is all about. We need to identify the things that we just aren’t in alignment with so that we may learn to let them go in order to let newer and better opportunities and challenges come into our lives. If we stay stuck clinging to something old, then the universe can never “update” your life with the appropriate people, events and circumstances etc that are worthy of you in this present moment of life.

Also, without this “update” from the universe, we stay stuck in old patterns of growth that just can’t provide the lessons and experience in life that will allow us to learn what we need to in order to achieve what we want in and out of life. You can typically feel this happening to you when the people and circumstances that surround your life don’t seem to be in alignment with your own goals. I feel as though most of the times we can be prone to blaming others for our shortcomings when we are the ones choosing to keep our relationships with people and circumstances who just aren’t the best for us in life in terms of being able to support us with what we want to achieve.

Remember that we are the Creators and we choose everything and everyone. Always. Without exception.

Right, if we have to try 1, 2, 3X to get where we want to go, then yes we are being blocked.
WHY?? free choice gives us the right to choose……no blocks…..
What and Who is holding us back………
Example: we are blocked from getting a good education.
We are blocked from using our own thoughts.
I think we are blocked on purpose…not aloud to think .

I understand where you are coming from and while I do agree that there are indeed certain external forces that are setup to work against us, I believe that if we are truly meant to do something, then all resistance, once combined with a Heart-felt purpose, will be much easier to overcome.

When we face any challenge in life a lot of what determines our success or failure is a direct result of how much of ourselves we give to our goals and our “cause” or “purpose”.

Free Will is also the most important aspect of human life, and during our journey of figuring out what we want in life and who we are as well as what we want to be and stand for, we are always coming to new conclusions about ourselves and what we really want; I believe this also plays a huge role when it comes to helping us to create our lives.

A lot of the things we pursue that we feel blocked from is a direct message from the Soul or the Heart (yes, we do have these things ;) ) telling us that what we want isn’t going to contribute in a healthy way to our growth and evolution. It’s simple: if we ignore these “intuitions” and try to pursue a path of resistance then we will live a life of struggle in which we can’t seem to accomplish anything and our wheels will always seem stuck. Sometimes, we manage to accomplish things even though they take a painfully long time and we think this kind of struggle is normal when it really isn’t. Some goals legitimately take a long time to accomplish and there’s no getting around that (such as when trying to become something like a Doctor or trying to start a new business etc) but we must remain honest and truthful with ourselves when attempting to evaluate the resistance that we are receiving in our lives.

It takes some time to really be able to listen to that inner voice, but it’s well worth it ;)
