Catchy title, isn’t it?
I am writing this post to primarily deal with one concept that I see, feel and think is especially important to talk about; the fact is that today I am seeing more and more people trying to “manifest” and “intend” their way to wealth, happiness, success, love etc and yet they keep coming up short. I want to talk about why I think this is and what I believe the cure is.
Can You Really Manifest Success, Love or Wealth?
Before we get deep into the reasoning behind my answer, I want you to think about this and reflect on it:
If you are a Spiritual or Religious person and you’re trying your very hardest to manifest something, using the law of attraction or anything else you’d want to call it, and are having difficulty doing so, why do you think this is? Does it often seem like sometimes non-spiritual or religious people tend to be able to manifest large amounts of money, success, fame etc, while you’re struggling so hard for the same results? Let’s take a look at a lot of the common things people say about how other people who they deem not as spiritual, religious or aware as themselves could have come to acquire their things:
1. They were dishonest in acquiring it.
2. They are evil, have no sense of “heart”, “love” or “compassion”.
3. They hurt others and screwed them over in order to get things.
4. They don’t care about the environment.
5. They have a secret, hidden agenda and we can’t ever be in on it.
6. They do work that is motivated by greed, power and any other type of energy that is associated with the Will or lower, base Chakras.
7. They acquire their money by deceiving others, conning them or siphoning it away from them dishonestly.
The goes on and on, and you get the point. I see that there are great examples in which all of these things or a few of them could be true, however, ultimately, none of this matters. Why? Because there is a Golden Spiritual Truth that is built into the very structure of the universe, and this is it:
The Universe Rewards Value
You can be the most Spiritually dead and unawakened individual to ever exist in the history of mankind, but the fact of the matter is that if you can build a business that sells a product or service that is valuable, then people will do business with you and buy your products and services. This is an oversimplified version but it’s the truth.
Over time naturally the businesses with the best products, customer service, reputation and overall excellence tend to win out. But this is sort of like a natural selection process that sorts out what is truly valuable from what isn’t.
Now I made this first statement because I want you to think about it carefully. The actual truth at hand here is that we must do our best to make sure that we don’t become too caught up in our thoughts, plans and goals and forget to actually implement them.
Yin and Yang of Success
The concept of Yin and Yang is one that has been around for thousands of years and can help us to both understand and further prove this point.
As described in this excellent article about Yin Disease:
Yin refers to a quality of matter that tends to be colder, more expanded or disintegrated, centrifugal in nature (which means moving sideways outwardly and sometimes upward), often more feminine in nature, tending to be damp or more watery, more flaccid and softer.
While Yang is:
Yang in Chinese medicine and Taoist thought is the quality of more massive, more solid, harder, hotter, more contracted, more masculine, more intense, more dense, and moving downward and inward toward the earth, generally.
Ancient oriental philosophy holds that all of creation is just the interplay between these forces of Yin and Yang. You can see this everywhere in life. For example, the morning dew that forms on the grass that is wet and damp (Yin) is later dried out by the heat of the Sun (Yang). These forces have always coexisted and will continue to do so for the life of the entire universe. In other cases, Yin is directly able to change itself into Yang and vice versa – they are always flowing into each other and interacting to produce various states of matter.
When we begin to again talk about success, we can talk about it in terms of Yin and Yang. The problem that I believe most people are faced with is that they simply spend too much time trying to learn about things, and not enough time trying to implement them. As both a business owner and somebody who spends a great deal of time blogging, studying and talking to people about Spirituality, I feel that this is a very Yin characteristic.
If you remember my original point about success, it still holds true to be a golden rule.
Converting Potential Into Success
I view excessive amounts of Yin as excessive amounts of potential. The more you learn, study etc the more potential you develop within yourself. Those who are already Yin-dominated individuals are prone to becoming more infatuated with how something works, rather than how to translate it into practical real-world success and results. The Yin mind is intellectual and likes to think, especially about the bigger picture. The Yin mind is also very free and liberal and is one that is extremely in alignment with what we’d call the upper Chakras which can explain their profound need to find a “cause” in life or a work that is deeply fulfilling and of a Loving nature. Without fully activating and integrating the lower and more practical Chakras that you’d find in the Yang mind, the Yin individual finds themselves a factory that manufactures the greatest ideas on Earth yet knows not what to do with them.
I like to say then, that Yin is potential waiting to be expressed while Yang is the matter, or activator/catalyst that allows the Yin to be expressed and self-aware.
However, the good news is that the whole purpose of this blog as well as Life itself is to cultivate and promote awareness. The best quality a Yin mind can learn is how to activate and integrate the Yang within them so that they effectively learn how to take their amazing ideas and put them into immediate action in order to generate results.
I meet and talk to all sorts of people who beat themselves up over being lazy, day-dreaming procrastinators who want nothing more in life then to be able to change. There’s really nothing wrong with them. These individuals are usually just excessively Yin in nature and haven’t yet opened up to their Yang energies. Opening up to these Yang energies will cause a profound shift in the way in which you view the world. Along with Yang energies come a strong source of Will, or a type of aggressiveness that isn’t damaging yet can be frightening at first to the Yin-dominated mind.
Success In A Nutshell
The bottom line is that in order to be successful we must convert our potential into success. Those who aren’t overly Spiritual or Religious in nature can do this without a problem because they are simply expressing their potential. I don’t care if you perceive yourself or others to be the most Spiritually dead or Awakened individual walking on the face of this Earth – the point is that you can’t allow yourself to fall into the trap of not converting your Potential (that which you have learned, studied about etc) into Success (success is just the practical application of the things one has learned or studied about through books, direct experience and even practice of a particular art, craft or anything else).
Remember those who are excessive Yang can be more prone to taking action within seconds rather than thinking excessively about something. Those prone to Yang thinking can benefit from thinking things through and trying to see the bigger picture.
In my experience, Yin-oriented individuals tend to be unsuccessful because they don’t know how to apply their theories and ideas effectively while Yang individuals tend to not be successful because they can’t adapt quickly enough by thinking about how to best cope with the demands that arise rapidly during their pursuits. In a nutshell:
* Yin individuals are often too busy thinking how to be practical rather than actually being practical and trying figure out how to implement their grand ideas and plans.
* Yang individuals can sometimes be to single-minded to see the biggest picture behind what needs to be done, and why it needs to be done.
We must do our best to become successful by finding a meaningful pursuit in which we can invest all of our time, effort, intelligence, Will and Heart into. The full integration of all qualities of Yin and Yang can produce a powerhouse of an individual that is equally balanced and capable of simplifying their grand thinking into manageable and actionable steps that are simple, easy and practical to understand and work with as well as create and manage.
We will never know just how Spiritual or Religious a person even is and we should never attempt to guess. After all, Life is providing a unique learning experience for them that is exactly in alignment with who and what they are at that moment. We can’t judge or question the universe or the experiences in which others are attracting to them for their own growth and personal development.
Just remember that success doesn’t favor the Spiritually advanced, however, knowing the laws of success from a higher level of consciousness and awareness will amplify the results you can achieve in such a profound way that it isn’t able to even be calculated. The key is to stay in alignment with all of this by balancing your Yin and Yang while moving towards your desired goals in unison. This can take a bit of practice at first but it is overall one of the most valuable combinations of skills that you can ever learn and develop within yourself.
Therefore, you generate the most success just as long as you are providing a truly valuable product or service to others given enough time and patience. It doesn’t matter what level of achievement you have obtained and we must think of all things in life as catalysts to helping us further develop our consciousness and awareness. For some people, especially the Yang oriented, they can’t help but to learn through experience which is why you’ll find them chronically trying to start new products, businesses, careers etc while the Yin are chronically trying to think about new ideas or ways to change beliefs that will make them successful.
The Yang are always trying to work with the physical and material world around them to create success while the Yin are trying to work with ideas in which they hope will create and generate success for them. This doesn’t hold true 100% of the time as most individuals tend to be a mixture of both Yin and Yang, however, it’s my experience that the vast majority of people have a strong preference to one or the other. There is always the Chinese medical term of “damp heat” which we can explore at a later point in time
But in all honesty, if you haven’t checked out this article about Yin and Yang Diseases than I’d highly suggest doing so as it will help this article to make a lot more sense to you as a reader. It also goes into more health-oriented stuff and how Yin and Yang tend to manifest as disease within the body.
These are the two main ways in which the Yin and Yang energies approach the world. One is not better or more “right” or “wrong” than the other. They are both custom-tailored learning experiences for two different styles of individuals to learn by and work with in their lives.
