Focus On What You Want To Create

by Steve on September 17, 2010

I think that we spend entirely too much time focusing on all of the things we don’t want in life. We become so busy, so tied up in focusing on all of the things we either wish we had, or all of the things we no longer have.

What ever happened to focusing on what and all that we have, right now?

It’s ironic because we don’t realize how much we really have in this moment until we are faced with the very real possibility or threat of losing it. Only under the shadow and the pressure of losing what we hold dear to us can we seem to readjust our focus like a laser onto the things we have right now and in this moment.

I’m not sure what causes this, or even why it is; what I am sure of is the fact that this is an emotional roller coaster. Being spaced out and not grounded, not centered into what is happening in life at this moment does two things to us that can be fatal:

1.    It robs us of our ability to create our futures
2.    It destroys our ability to live and enjoy life because we become obsessed with either “what was” or “what could be”

The universe and life is full of possibility, and the only person who can choose what we experience in life is our own self. I’ve developed myself to only focus on what I have in this moment, but even more, I only focus on those things that I want or see love in.

What Do You Love?

A lot of people will argue and say they don’t know what they want, but my response to that is always:
But you know what you don’t want. Knowing what you don’t want is essentially your window into finding what you love. If you don’t love X then you can find why you must or might love Y. The key is to not focus on what hurts you, what disempowers you or makes you feel any less of a person.

We all want things. A lot of things. My approach to life is to focus not on all of the little things that I want, but one goal that is so big that obtaining it would naturally result in me being able to have all of the now seemingly “little things”.

If a shred of negatively comes over me, I feel it run through me almost like a poison and I can detect it right away and shift my focus into something positive. It’s the result of a heightened awareness and increase in sensitivity to such things, I am sure, but the fact of the matter is I am not concerned with anything besides I want to see, have, be or do in life.

Why We Love To Hate

Call me crazy, but I believe the reason why we love to give so much of ourselves to “negative” or “bad” feelings is because they satisfy our urge for instant gratification. When we are mad, angry, jealous, envious or anything else, we feel the effects of those emotions NOW. There is no delay, they overcome us and they work to create a living hell faster then we can believe.

In a world where getting what we think we want seems to be so hard, when we are mad and that feeling overcomes us instantly we are empowered with a feeling that seems to give us a degree of power or control. The power is not in the negative emotion itself, but rather, the power is in the degree (or how strong and much) we feel that negative emotion in that instant. If we could feel and give such a strong degree of positive emotions and feelings at once we would be overcome with joy, happiness and love that it would be mind blowing.

But still… These fast-acting negative emotions are sometimes more tangible then their positive counterparts which sometimes seem like they are trying to hide from us. My point is that negative emotions are here now – we feel them, live them and become submerged and drunk with their power quickly. Every time we think about what we want and it isn’t there two seconds later, the negative emotions creep in and satisfy the part of us that wants something “NOW”. To feel these emotions, although bad for us and our health, give us temporary satisfaction because it introduces something that we can feel right now, rather then having it be far off.

This took a great deal of realization in myself to uncover. I would always focus on what I wanted and the story I would tell myself and others is why I can’t get it, or why I lost it. I just wanted to feel something, no matter what it was, I needed some kind of feelings to over come me and make everything OK again, no matter what it was.

I’ve since learned that having faith in what we are wanting and trying to create is what defines us. For example, any person can have faith in what they can feel, see, hear etc but how many people can have faith in something that they cannot yet see? Yet what I say is that having belief in something that you cannot see, hear, touch etc means that you have come to understand life, yourself and the world.

Having too much faith in material things and results isn’t all that its cracked up to be. Any person can do this, but how many people can look at something and say, “there must be more” or even “I wonder what else is hiding inside of that…”. I believe that you truly begin to master and command your life when you understand this. Life is coming from the imagination, it is coming from the dreams, idealisms and fantasies that we all have. What we can see, hear, taste etc is just the result of us putting in a lot of hard work to make these dreams and vivid pictures of the imagination real.

Imagination (the unseen) comes first and the physical and material world comes second as it follows our dreams. So instead of focusing on what is here in the flesh or in the material world, I have found it to be a wiser choice to focus instead inwards to all of the dreams and hopes we have and trying to make those real. They should be the highest vision and image you have of yourself. They should clearly express who and what you are as a human being, and nothing less. In every second of every moment and every day we should be creating nothing less then the highest vision and ideals we have of who we are – we must create our highest versions of ourselves in the flesh.

Ask And You Shall Receive

What are you asking for in life right now? I can tell you the answer to that:

What you are asking for, you are receiving, right NOW.

The next time you are thinking about what you want in life. I dare to challenge you and say it is already there, it is already done. It is up to you to create this vision and dream for yourself. If you want others to help you, they will be attracted to your cause. By and large, you are free to create what you think accurately represents you as a person and as a human being.

The second you hold an idea in your mind, you have given it life. It is then up to you to do what you want with it.

Will you let it die?
Or will you let it grow into the physical world to help others and yourself?

There is nothing in the universe that says all ideas need to become realized within a matter of seconds. Everything requires time in some sense. We are time bound individuals, and while time may be an illusion, the degree of love with which we can nurture our ideas will determine how fast we can see them become real to our physical senses and exist for our eyes and sense of touch to enjoy.

Nothing is impossible, but also, nothing is impossible without work. A certain degree of dedication and passion is required to bring anything into physical existence. We must use and harness our creative ability to direct the energy of life into a form that we can be proud of.

Focus On Manifesting

Surely you can understand the sense of urgency here. There is no “time” to focus on anything that isn’t what we want. We have to understand that there are no limits and that we can only create what we want through dedication, passion and a large degree of faith. To me, faith means the belief in knowing that what we are imagining, we are actively creating. Without faith, we fail to realize that our imaginations are what create our world and our lives.

There is absolutely no time to spend on thinking about the things we don’t want. I am so much better then that, as are you. Dwelling and focusing on what we don’t want fills us up with the energy of those things that we don’t want – that then becomes what our imaginations are made out of and those things have no other choice but to become real because we will focus 90% of our time, energy and focus on them.

See and be only what you want to be. Focus on the big goals, not the little things. If you could only achieve one thing in life, what would that be?

Start to do the things that will allow you to achieve that goal NOW, without excuses. If you don’t start now, or if you aren’t putting an effort worthy of yourself and having it towards it right now, then you don’t really want it. If you say I am crazy for calling you out saying you don’t want your goal, then go out there and show me up.
